We are urban. We are Southern. We are multi-cultural.
Open Door was founded as a multi-cultural church at a time when race mixing was still under debate within the body of Christ. We welcome all as we are one in Christ.
We embrace hospitality, faith, family, and community. Whoever you are, wherever you are, however you are, you are welcome at Open Door.
What should I wear?
We dress pretty casually at Open Door, but if dressing up is your thing, feel free! Whatever you wear, we look forward to meeting you.
When do you start?
Worship starts at 11:00 AM on Sunday mornings, and is generally over by 12:00 PM.
What is a Mennonite? Are you guys Amish?
We aren’t Amish, but we are both parts of the same stream of Christianity called “Anabaptists”, a group that emerged during the Protestant Reformation in the 15th Century. We are similar to a lot of Protestant churches, with a few things that stand out, like believer’s baptism, the priesthood of all believers, and a commitment to nonviolence.
We are members of the Gulf-States Conference and the larger Mennonite Church USA
